K'taka moots NRC to weed out illegal immigrants

The BJP government on Thursday proposed introducing the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to weed out illegal immigrants in Karnataka, the first state from the south to do so. Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Haryana and Uttarakhand have planned it after Assam released its list in August.
