Anti-CAA stir in Chennai ends in violence

A protest by a 1,000-strong group, including 600 women, against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Population Register at Washermenpet on Friday evening ended in violence with some protesters hurling stones and chappals at policemen and the law enforcers resorting to what a senior officer said was ‘mild force’ to disperse them.
