7 killed in blast at Tamil Nadu fireworks unit

Seven women died and and two others were grievously injured in an explosion at a fireworks manufacturing unit at Kurugudi village in Kattumannarkoil block in Cuddalore district on Friday. While five of the victims died on the spot, two others succumbed to injuries at Kattumannarkoil general hospital. Two other injured being treated at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) in Puducherry are said to be critical. Police are probing the cause of the blast.
