Gang-rape warrants death penalty: Karnataka HC

Upholding life imprisonment awarded by a local court to seven men accused of raping a student of National Law School of India University near the campus in Bengaluru in 2012, the Karnataka high court said gangrape “is worse than a murder” and provisions of Section 376D of the Indian Penal Code should be amended to provide death sentence for the crime.
