Booze on fire as vendors in Gurugram look to cover losses

Liquor shops that re-opened on Monday after a month-long lockdown have steeply jacked up retail prices. While beer priced between Rs 150 and Rs 180 is being sold for Rs 220, whisky has seen a hike of about 50-80%. A 750ml bottle of Johnny Walker’s Black Label, for instance, is being sold at Rs 4,000 to Rs 4,500, nearly double its price.
