
With the monsoon delayed and the heat unrelenting, Delhi’s peak power demand crossed the 7,000MW mark on Thursday for the first time in two years. The heat and humidity pushed power demand even beyond the season’s highest of 6,921MW on Wednesday. Apart from the unrelenting temperature, the gradual relaxation of the lockdown in the city has caused a rise in demand for power with standalone shops, markets, malls and offices all reopening.
