'She would have lived if we had a toilet at home'

"If we had a toilet at home, my sister would have been alive," says a distraught Deepa (name changed), who had accompanied her younger sibling on Thursday night to the thickets near their slum cluster by the railway tracks in Faridabad, a daily ritual of late for the girls who would have to wait well into the night for the privacy that darkness and the late hours offered to relieve themselves.
