
Distress among farmers in Maharashtra pushed 1,875 of them to end their lives during January-August, according to data compiled by the state relief and rehabilitation department. During the same period last year, 1,605 farmers died by suicide. Amravati (725) and Aurangabad (661) regions together account for around 75% of the cases this year, like in 2021.
