Need to make cruelty cases compoundable: HC

"The importance of making (IPC) Section 498A compoundable with the permission of the court can hardly be overlooked or understated," said the Bombay HC recently, directing the additional SG to follow up with the Union home ministry, where Maharashtra's 2018 proposal to amend the law and enable a woman and her husband or in-laws to mutually settle the "cruelty to wife" case is pending.
