Road crash-related fatalities in Mumbai decreased by 35% from January to September compared to the same period last year, with improved infrastructure and strict enforcement being credited for the drop. However, experts have urged authorities to plan ahead for the opening of high-speed corridors like the Mumbai Coastal Road and Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link to prevent accidents. Factors such as congestion, mandatory use of safety equipment, and enhanced safety features in vehicles were cited as reasons for the reduction in fatalities. Speeding and drunk driving remain major causes of accidents.
