FIR belies consent was vitiated says Bombay HC, quashes rape case

The Bombay High Court quashed the first information report (FIR) against a man accused of rape, ruling that the woman who accused him of sexual assault on the basis of a false promise of marriage failed to establish that the promise was false from the beginning. The accused had appealed for the quashing of the FIR, which was filed in Pune in January of the previous year. The woman, who was his colleague, had accused him of rape and repeated sexual assault.
