Video of newborn’s taped mouth viral, but probe panel finds no CCTV proof
The inquiry committee reviewed the CCTV footage and found no evidence of adhesive tape on the infant's mouth. The report stated that there was no fault with the NICU or the staff, including the NICU coordinator. However, the child's grandmother and former corporator Jagruti Patil disputed this, claiming that the nurses admitted to using tape to stop children from crying. Advocate Tushar Bhonsale pointed out that the BMC did not deny the existence of the tape when the photo went viral. The matter will be heard by the human rights commission on January 17, 2024.
